So I'm currently in South Africa for the start of the 2016 season. I'm excited but unsure of what's around the corner other than one of the most majestic places on Earth, Leopard Creek.
It's been six weeks since competing. At the start of that period it felt like an eternity but now I'm amazed at where it went!
I've used the time well though. I've had some relaxing weekends away with friends and family and really enjoyed some time at home in a “normal” routine. I've been having a great time in the gym, building some monkey bars in my garage to make training more fun, and I've loved getting my legs and core stronger to really help my swing. I've set some PB's but unfortunately my beach muscles are still a bit lacking!
I've tried to build on the momentum I had at the end of the season, which admittedly was slow. But it's progress no matter how you look at it and that's what counts. I've analysed my game and reset some goals. I've worked on my game a lot and put more structure into my practice by being able to quantify what I'm working on, and I'm hoping that will start to show over the coming weeks.
The first test is in Leopard Creek for the Alfred Dunhill Championship, one of my favourite events anywhere in the world. Not that I've ever done very well there but I'm determined to break that run. Then I'm over to Vietnam for the inaugural Ho Tram Open. It's fair to say after seeing pictures of the course and resort I'm very excited as it looks phenomenal.
On top of that I've got a new website, a new Instagram account and a new beard, which could be a keeper. Result dependant of course! Wilson 2.0 all round?
I'll check back in the New Year but until then thanks again for all the support. I plan to give you lots more to cheer about this season!
